I have been faced with queries as to how the themes pan out and how Metamorphosis in the clear cut theme in this ever astounding world of coming up with something cohesive. Now, with the mailers sent out, speakers coming on board, and with the chances of an Airline partner looking slim (OUCH!), let me help explain...

Metamorphosis is the biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth. In our case, we symbolize the Caterpillar to Butterfly story we all once read in school. And we put the same rationale to business.

Paragana 2008's theme revolves around the same aspect of metamorphosis plugged into the means by theories which exist, how to overcome them, and change in such a manner that we can actually build a nation that despite being chaotic, is forward in its approach. We ponder over the basic debate of how an Indian company in the past has or how a company in the future will build India as a stronghold by just striving to not settle for a raw deal.

We have examples galore. ITC's E Choupal (the most oft spoken concept in my 15 months at a B School) or JSW's social claims to fame, or even what a certain Abhinav Bindra now plans with Corporate Backing. All this is a sure shot means of telling the world that now that the company is in order and doing well, we have a point to prove and we will not go around aimlessly achieving the same in the name of pointless C.S.R or Business Ethics but prove to the world there was an idea behind the thought. And maybe THIS is exactly what is so well summarized in the Idea advertisements that have run awash on TV screens and otherwise.

Now, how does the symposium stack up? Or does the theme give it a raw deal?
To start with, you have it wrong. This shall promise to be bigger than ever and one of its kind.
At Grand Hyatt, you shall be seated to witness the opening session or something known as "The Cocoon Concept". This shall ponder over companies that are still in the shell or being built and illustrate those who have changed. Before you wish to move a muscle, the same hall shall divide itself into two halves with each holding a unique seminar session. Based upon discussions within the same theme, this is the Larva Level discussion. Where the seeds are merely being sown and the theoritcal aspect is given bondage to.
Now think of the same hall getting divided into 3 parts. So instead of 2 doors to choose from, you now have 3. What from the buffet table will seem like a game show, is actually the epitome of selection uncertainty. The 3 doors hold 3 workshops and I shall save them for a better time. These workshops contain the PUPA level discussions and are followed by a panel discussion full of CFOs who decide the best strategy in today's times. Thats the Adult stage or wherein the discussion is seemingly near the maturity levels. The final bit is the valedictory session or the IMAGO wherein an image is formed and summed up by the Guest Of Honor. It all of this isn't good enough, the bunch of lucky people based upon on evermore selections get invites to a course meal of a Corporate Dinner and get to drink their hearts away. FREE LIQUOR!

Thus, when we are inebriated, we reach a state of momentary stupor or the Imago stage wherein we hope more and more companies can pick a few points from our beautiful conclave and apply the same to their practices, the best in nature of course. This through both seminars and workshops and I promise this to be a "truely" magnificent event with grandeur dreams.

Honestly speaking, its a Saturday and Paragana shall be the perfect start to the third weekend of November, 2008...
